Like Fred LeBrun in his column (“Which Cuomo will we now get?” Sept. 8), I was angered by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s recent remarks about giving failing schools the “death penalty” because it shows the governor is missing the real issue. “Failing” schools are a symptom of a much larger problem: Poverty.
